How do I control the ant infestation at home?

I have a black ant infestation at my house. I does not matter how many times I clean house and everything, they keep coming back. I have even tried pouring very hot water on the kitchen floor and the counters in my kitchen, which kills most of them, but they still keep coming back. I would hate to use poison on the ants, but is there any other way to control this ant infestation and keeping them out of my house. Ants do not belong in my house. They need to stay outside.

The problem is finding out what the ants are after...they usually keep coming in for something...and till it is gone they will keep coming...

course the other possibility is that they are carpenter ants...which unfortunately eat your house...so if you do think that you have eliminated all other food sources that regular ants are after...you might want to consider the exterminator route...not to scare you too much but left unattended they are just like termites in terms of the damage they can cause

try putting salt where the ants are--should drive them away
