How do I convert 4 pin s-video to component/rgb video?

if the 4pin s-video is:

Pin Name Description

1 GND Ground (Y)

2 GND Ground (C)

3 Y Intensity (Luminance)

4 C Color (Chrominance)

and the Component video is

Y is Luminance,

Cb is Blue Chromanance,

Cr is Red Chromanance.

  1. You can't, at least not via a simple adapter. The colours (Chrominance) are mixed in S-video and you can't unmix them to get the Cb and Cr. You need a transcoder (many receivers have them built in  -- they take any input and convert it to a different tyupe of output (e.g. HDMI input and component or composite output)).

    See the link for one stand alone converter. Whether you actually gain anything is a question mark though since at best the device has to "guess" to define the Cr and Cb signals.
