How do I convert a big Word document to a Zip file to email out?

I've only ever had to un-zip incoming docs, I've never had to zip one myself to email out.

Thanks for any do's, don'ts, hints, tips and know-how!

  1. Download and install a compression program. I use Winzip.exe. Winzip is a purchased program, but you can download a trial copy for free. There are many other free software programs that will interoperate as well. Check the links here:

Run Winzip (or other), a window will open and you will be able to select files you wish to add to the archive you will create. Click on the Zip button, pick a name and place to store the zip file and whether you want to creat a self extracting file (if your recipient does not have extraction software, you'd want to do this, but it makes the file bigger)
