How do I convert a .mov file to a .mpg file so I can edit it on WIndows Movie Maker?

I have a new video camera and when I upload the videos to the computer it puts it into .mov file format. I want to convert it to .mpg (I think) so that I can edit it using video editing software. Help please!!
