Hi all, just got a new apartment and i have an AC unit that the plug looks like a regular plug (with the two flat things and the bottom circular one). However, this one is odd because the two flat things are horizontal! Is there any adapter I can buy to plug into the regular wall outlet that will let me plug in my weird AC Unit outlet? Thanks!

  1. No. That is a special 240 volt outlet, the only way to change it is to hae a qualified professional electrician do the work. It is more involved than just changing the receptacle, the panel and the circuit breaker must also be changed.

  2. You have a 240V. outlet for the air conditioner.

Plug your A.C into another outlet.

  3. The AC unit has a 15A/240V plug. It can't be plugged into a normal 15A/120V outlet.

Sorry to bring you the bad news...
