  1. Just use a normal run of the mill scanner. I don't think you will be able to convert them to digital though is what you asked

  2. All scanners will do this that is what scanners do.

  3. I was just going to recommend thet Canon flatbed scanners, I have used those for years. They work great.

  4. It is pretty simple.

First you buy a decent scanner or a printer/scanner which have more value for money.

Then, once you have installed it, put one of your old family photographs in the scanner and scan using the software that came with the scanner. During the scanning process or before it will probably ask you where to save the scanned picture. I would save it in a folder in 'My Pictures'.

If the software is good it should crop the picture down to make it perfect. If not, just edit it using the software. If you can't just copy the picture into Adobe Photoshop or other picture editing software. I recommend that if you haven't got this, just use a word or publisher document to edit and then 'Save Picture As...'

This may take a while, but I hope this helps.

  5. A simple flatbed USB scanner is the cheapest way. Canoscan lide 25's what I use. Good results too.
