I know I could burn it to a DVD but I have no DVD recorder...so I don't think that's still an option. So it there any kind of cord/adapter thingy or something (excuse the lack of technical knowledge/ lingo) I could plug into the camera and straight into the computer? The camera has no S-video connection only once audio and one video port. and that's it as far as i can tell. It's a Sony video 8 XR CCD-TRV215 1998 model

Sorry I actually have no idea if this information is helpful. Anyway...help please?

I want to be able to edit my video on Windows movie maker.

  1. A digital8 vcr and a firewire card.....

Or a Hi8 vcr + proc amp + frame sync\TBC + good ADC like a canopus and a firewire card.

Your biggest problem is dropped frames...

  2. I had the same question about my Sony Hi8 camcorder. After a few years of recording, around 60 tapes, last year bought an iMac. Then purchased an item from CompUSA called EYEtv. It is a small adapter with s-vid and regular audio and video connections. Hook it to a USB on your computer, plug your camcorder to it, and record away. Then you can save the videos in some form, depending on what program(s) you have and can load them on youtube etc.. I have put some of mine in iMovie or iDVD and can then burn to disc. You will only get mono on audio but it is fine for my vids, even though they are of racecars. Plenty of sound. With a software download and the device purchase I spent around $90 and it has been great. You can also hook it to your VCR or DVD player and watch shows on your computer and record them.

  3. You can try Cucusoft DVD and Video converters suite which includes Cucusoft Ultimate DVD and Video Converter Suite.
