Question:

How do I convince my dad to pay for my contact lenses?

A few months ago, I went in for my annual eye exam and my dad and I told the lady that I would be ready to get contact lenses. We went and filled out a bunch of paperwork so I can get them, but then I ended up not getting them that day because they said they only had the left eye availible for me. So the people at Lenscrafters said that they would call our house when the right eye was ready so they can start me off on a trial pair. They eventually called our house a few weeks later to let us know, and my dad said okay. Ever since, we haven't gone into Lenscrafters to get my contacts from them. How do I tell my dad that I think it's finally time for me to go get contact lenses? (I don't know if this helps, but I'm 14... so I don't know if I can help him pay for them, haha.)

  1. Just ask him. Is he that bad that you can't ask him? If he is a good daddy he will go get them for you. Just ask him about it. Maybe he forgot. Dad's tend to be forgetful. Being a parent is sometimes a stressful job and he may have gotten his mind on work or whatever and just forgot. Don't stress just ask.

  2. first off as a parent it's his responsibility to keep your eyes healthy, 2ndly the trial pair is included in the cost of the exam at any lenscrafters I've ever gone to, so merely picking up the trial pair won't cost him anything. It then takes a while for your eyes to adjust sometimes and you have to go back to make sure they are the right contacts for you. When that is done, THAT's when contacts start costing you money.....tell him you'll do chores around the house to work it off or something but like I said....he's your dad and eyesight is important

  3. Bug him every day.

Say, dad, when are we going to pick up my contacts?

It could be that he doesn't have the money he had then now, and he's just too embarrassed or is waiting until payday to pick them up.

  4. You're 14!!! Your father should be the one paying for your lenses!!

  5. put on a helmet and start running, really fast, and AIM low...

then maybe you'll knock some sense into him...

I am 34 and JUST got contacts for the first time in my life...I had to pay for them, out of my OWN pocket, over $200...

    Get a job!!

    HA HA...
