  1. movements start out small and grow bigger with the persistence of the dedicated few.

is there a particular issue that you want to address? focus on that and then gather together your friends and others to start a campaign to make changes either through letter-writing to public officials to encourage that changes be made. adopting a neighborhood and encouraging a sense of community with "street sweeping" or planting flowers helps to show others that you are willing to work for it.

most important of all, you should have some sort of dialog with the community to understand where they are coming from so you can work together towards Greener living. they might even have more ideas on how to Green your community.

i've included a link to Urban Habitat. they are trying to empower communities to change the environment for the better.

    good luck!

  2. Go around your community and discuss ways they can help out. Maybe you can start at your home. Check out this article  for more info http://www.squidoo.com/gogreenstopjunkma...

  3. Why would they want to do that in the first place?  It's all a big political scam.

Al Gore?  What a joke.  That movie was nothing but propaganda to shove his agenda into the public eye not to mention a feeble attempt to get himself back into the public eye.  Going green?  Don't think so!!!

  4. Seeing is believing... find a community near yours that is already on track and would make a good example or model for yours. Then find one full of skeptics and apathetic jerks (not your own as this will alienate them to your cause). The direction your community should want to go will be a no-brainer, and I'll bet that near by greener community will give yours all the help you may need. If not move to that green community in your example as fast as you can and let the brain drain on your old stomping grounds slowly rub them out!

We live in a very competitive culture and society, no one wants to loose. But if your community won't compete, your fighting too big of a battle and you and them will both loose together.

As the green movement gains steam, one of the strategies is to isolate the green form the shaft, and economically destroy those backwards places, businesses and industries so they can be made green as they are repopulated, redisigned or eliminated so something better can take their place.

The best non-violent way to win this war is to simply deprive the bad palyers of revenue and thus their ability to survive.

  5. the best way would be to suggest things that will save people money. such as CFLs or solar hot water systems. this will allow you to play to there greed as well as there morels.

  6. Just tell them it saves them money...if they don't go for that they are insane. Even though money makes greedy people we still need it.

  7. Best way is to run for office in your community.  This will help you project your concerns with going Green.  Myself, I am for going green.  Have replace regular bulbs with florescent.  Cost more than regular bulbs but at least they last longer and use less energy.  Waiting for the cost to go down then I will buy some solar power panels to put on the roof.

  8. Put signs up and you start and tell others to follow.

  9. Don't understand why people don't go green.

Maybe a fine for not going green would be the answer.

  10. You only need a few good men. :)) Delegate! If you can convince ten men, they can do the work from there on.

  11. organize a viewing of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth"

then ask them if they are still republicans and what they're prepared to do about our planet(?)
