  1. well... you have to think...  you will not live there forever.. and once your gone they probable dont want to be stuck with black walls.. they also might think this means you are depressed.. why dont you go with things are black.. liek get black curtains, and comforter.. things like that?

  2. You should accept your parents' answer.  Besides this is an absolutely terrible design statement.  What could you possibly be thinking?  What you want to do is accent with Black - now that can look terrific.  Look at these zebra sheets: http://www.pbteen.com/products/p3200/ind...

There are loads of black accented things for your room that your folks would go for. Another site http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&me=A1VC3...  has black chairs, tv stands and things. I think this is the way to go. Forget black hole walls, you must not even go there - huge mistake.

  3. I understand that you want to have a goth-themed bedroom.  This is okay.

Depending on the rest of the things in your room, black might not be right.  Your parents aren't letting you, but for the wrong reasons I think.  This reason your parents have may give you problems with decorating the rest of your room goth-like.

If you paint the walls black, with all this other black stuff, it's too much black.  You will probably want a second color in your room.  If you have black/pink or red, paint the walls your second color.

I think in your original question you said your parents wouldn't let you get goth bedding, curtains, etc.  If your furniture is more of your second color than black, black might be okay for the walls.

I get that your parents won't let you paint the walls black.  They see it as a bad room style that they might have for the rest of the time they will be living in this house.  They also might see the goth theme as inappropriate or bad.

Try offering to do something in exchange for the black walls.  Argue your case.  Be convincing.

    Good Luck.

  4. there are several reasons that your folks might not want you to paint your room black. 1) it would take a lot of paint to get good coverage when you do black, and 2) when it comes time to repaint it, it will take a lot of work & paint to change it to another color.

With this in mind, ask them if it would be okay to do a black wallpaper. It will look good when it goes up & it will be easier to change than trying to paint over it. There are some cool wallpapers out there. Check these out:

  5. Firstly, it is quite difficult to paint walls black - they need multiple coats to get that even look.  That leads to another thing - they are VERY difficult to paint another color one day in the future when i am imagining you may move out on your own.  Also, it will look like a cave, and not a good cave either.  If the statement you are trying to make is goth/punk/emo or something like that you can use a lot of great black accents - black & white pics in matted black frames, black furniture, black bedding, and lots of other funky things on the walls & about that will look cool & get the same effect.  You just need to be introduced to great alternative, especially since your parents aren't going to let it happen.  How about gray walls that will pop the black accents, or how about using a black light?  Other ideas are black checkers, red velvet, wrought iron wall hangings, etc depending on your taste. And if you're really disappointed, then one day when you get your own place, you can paint your room black (if the landlord allows it).  Good luck!

  6. Offer to pay the mortgage, insurance, utility bills and cost of the paint then I'll bet they reconsider!

  7. That's tough, tell them you want to put white pictures and bright colors around the room to make the positive things in your life stand out ha ha it may just work hit me with "the best answer" Good Luck
