My friend's cat just had 4 kittens and their adorable. I wanted 1 and so did my sister. My friend said she would have to give them to a shelter if she couldnt find a home for them. So I asked my mom if me and my sis could get one and she said Maybe. But that dosent mean yes! So how can I convince her to say yes! I told her I would buy all the supplies and clean her litter box. Also if anyone knows any kitten names im trying to decide what to name mine if I can get it. I was thinking about Lucky.

  1. You can say that you will pay for half of the vet fees for shots and spaying, and that you will pay for the cat's food with your allowance (if you have one). The thing is, your mom probably doesn't really believe that you will clean the litter box either. However, if you went out and bought the litter box, litter, scoop, and cat supplies, it will show her that you are really serious about wanting a cat and you are willing to sacrifice (your money and time) for it.

  2. Start buying the supplies. Show her you are serious and maybe take on the responsibilites of a pet you already have.

Or start saving money to buy her the supplies the kitten needs AND saving for the kitten to be spayed/neutered when it's time. Money for it's shots wouldn't be a bad idea.

and make sure your mom knows, maybe give her the money you earn and ask her to hold on to it for the kitten.

  3. We don't know your age but given you are using YA, my guess is you are not "of age" yet.  Your mom knows the bottom line though.  In the end she will be putting out the monies for your cat, she will be cleaning the litter when the stench becomes so bad the cat eliminates elsewhere and your mom will have to clean that too.

I know I'm not giving you much hope, but try to look at this from your moms pov (point of view).

    All the Best.

  5.   Do you live on a busy street? If you do, the cat has to stay indoors, period. If you live in a place where the cat can go outside safely, then bring home two of the little buggers and arrange a porch spot for feeding and water.

  6. lucky is pretty standard, i personally like names that are out there and not as common as most.

but to help with convincing your mother about getting a cat, tell her, "we could want a dog and theres a lot more that goes into a dog" Cats are easy and simple to take care of. When you leave for trips, just buy a automatic feeder and water bowl and your good for days. Yeah, they get lonely but you actually need a dog sitter for a more than 1 day trip. Cats are pretty self sufficient, go the bathroom by theirselves, eat by themselves, everything. I recommend keeping them indoors, that way you dont have to worry about fleas and other larger predators and cars.  One last thing, i recommend you and your sister get a cat, its only right to have 2 so they can play and grow together and have company when noone is home, especially if you travel alot or go to school all day.

  7. Tell her it's good for your health. There are studies that show having pets extend your life-google it
