  1. LISTEN TO HER!!!

  2. Get a book about red tailed boas and how to care for them. Then your mom might see that you are prepared to take care of one. Then tell her you will work for it.

  3. Tell her you will do the dishes and take the trash out every day until you move out of the house.  And that you will never argue with her again, ever.  Then stick to it.

  4. Boas get big, you didnt say about your experience with reptiles but if this is your first or secound snake dont get one. They get big enough to kill a person, its never happened but they can kill you when they get full grown, not to mention killing the cat if it gets out.

  5. Get a corn snake, they're tinier and they get to about 4 to 6 feet long. THEYRE SOOOO CUTE!!

  6. You need to aim lower in asking for a snake, your mom is not being unreasonable.

What about a Hog Island Boa? They are closely related to Red-Tails and look very similar, but are much smaller at 4-6 feet long.

Red Tailed Boas are known to get 8-12ft long, and while they are good snakes, their size makes them a snake that you shouldn't expect your mother to just let you get. If you really want one and are prepared for caring for a snake of that size, you should wait until you move out to get one.

About how long they live, almost all snakes you keep in captivity will live 15+ years, and once you move out, that really shouldn't concern her.

Ask for something more reasonably sized for a person new-ish to snakes, like a Hog Island Boa, a Corn Snake or a Ball Python, your mom will probably be much more accepting of this smaller, but still very good, snakes.
