How do I convince my mom to let me get a tattoo?

I am 17 and just want some little cute stars on my wrist. My mom has her own tattoo on her angle of some flowers and I need some ways to convince her to let me. I know getting one is only a year away, but I want to be able to show my friends and after I turn 18 I am out of here and I won't see most of my friends anymore.

I have gotten my lip pierced, but took it out so my mom just needs the right convincing, but my mind is blank.

just wait until your 18... and pay it with your own money !!! Thats my advice

Just show her you're not doing the average teenager thing with tattoos. You know, getting "Josh" stuck on your shoulder forever or something...but stars seem okay. Maybe she'd be convinced if they were in another place, one where they could be easily hidden.

Alright, if I can convince my dad to let me get 2 big swallow tattoos on my chest for my first tattoo then you can convince your mom! :D

I was 16 when I asked my dad and it was an absolute 'no!' from him, it took me a couple months to finally convince him. I let him know that I love swallows because they are so cute and I love the meaning behind them. You have to let your mom know WHY you want it, and what meaning it has to you.

I know nagging doesn't get people anywhere, but I kept reminding him that I wanted it, to make him aware that it wasn't some 'haze' that would go away in a few weeks or something. You have to let your mom know that you've made up your mind and you're -sure- you want it and it's not something that you'll regret in the future.

Once I got him thinking about it, I recommended it as my 17th birthday present. I finally made an appointment to get it for the end of september and I'm so excited :D

Also, tell your mom that you'll pay for it with your own money, because tattoo's aren't cheap!

Actually, in the majority of the states in the US, it is illegal for minors to get tattoos even with parental consent. If it's happening in the majority of the states where it is illegal, these places that are doing it need to be reported.

There is no way to convince your mom. If it is legal in your state for you to get a tattoo with your parent's consent then just ask her. If she says no, she says no. All you can do is wait a year.

I think it would help if you got it somewhere other than your wrist like something on your hip or lower back....plus they are extremely hot in both locations :-D
