None of the stuff in my room matches. I want to put a desk in for school but i have no room for that. My bed is queen sized but it takes up half the room because it's in the middle. If I move it over its blocking my window. My dad doesn't think I need a new bedroom set but I think i do because my room doesnt match at all. Nothing looks good in it and its just the worst room ever. How do I convince him to get me new furniture.

  1. break your furniture.

    set your room on fire.

dont be so selfish, you have what you need in life.

    GOD

  2. I'm 61 and have always thought furniture is way too expensive.  So years ago I started buying used furniture.  Sometimes it looked just fine and sometimes I had to do a little work to fix it up.

Check out thrift stores/ classified ads/

Ask your dad if he can help with the cost if you earn some money yourself

Be creative with what you have.  As a teen, I made my bed on a floor, where it took up very little space.  Many many people in the world do not sleep in a bed.  Get rid of the big bed, put down a sleeping spot.  Use paint to brighten the room-- it's inexpensive and makes a great change.  You can transform this room in more ways than just buying new furniture.   Good luck!

  3. You could convince him by getting a job and paying for the furniture yourself. Do you know how expensive furniture is?

  4. I'm married and I don't have matching furniture.  Check out Ikea for smaller beds, and a small desk you like.  Ask if it could be a birthday or Christmas present.  Or get a job and buy it for yourself.

  5. how do you feel about junk? lol? i mean good junk...what if you bonded with your dad while at the same time going on a hunt for new cool stuff for your room? you will need to proactive and adult about this. first of all, what if you went online and tried to trade your queen bed for a double? ask your parents first, but only after you tell them that you want to creatively and efficiently redecorate your room. do you really need all that bed? then ask your dad if you can go on to some flea markets or sales to find some furniture that either you like already or that you can fix up. it would be cheaper than new stuff and you could make it really cool and cute. for instance, maybe there's a desk that would be perfect but needs a little paint..you could paint it any color you want. you could even make some new curtains to go with the other stuff, what about plants? sometimes something that doesn't match can look a lot better with the proper setup. think creatively, and have fun with it. your dad might like the idea of renovating your room with you, instead of you coming up to him and asking for all new furniture. parents have trouble with that for various reasons. have fun!!!

  6. Why should your dad have to spend his hard earned money to replace something that works just fine? Either get some paint and make everything match, buy it with your own money, or deal with it. Insisting that things that aren't broken be replaced isn't fair to your dad; he's spent a lot of time and money to get you where you are, and you need to respect that.
