I've been playing lacrosse for 2 years and I'm pretty good, but I know that I don't want to continue playing. However, my dad is the coach of my high school's team, and both my parents really want me to play. I love to dance but my parents don't think of it as a sport and they want me to continue lacrosse so I can get a scholarship. How do I convince them that dancing is what I really want to do?

  1. You can still get a scholarship just as easily with dancing as lacrosse! Try to have a serious talk with them and discuss why you love to dance. I've danced since i was three years old and I absolutely love it! It lets me express myself in a way that I can't do with words. Dancing lets you be yourself and you don't have to worry about what anybody else thinks of you. Dancing is freedom! Try telling them that and see what they say! Let them see you dance so they'll know how happy it makes you!

  2. See dancing can really help you during lacrosse because dancing can build up your balance and also strengthen your muscles. I play basketball which is basically the same principle as lacrosse and i have great balance which really came in handy. Also getting a scholarship in lacrosse during highschool is possible but i think you should just focus on getting in a school by doing well in school and also these schools look at the number of activities you do and knowing that not only can you do sports you are also very artistic really helps.

  3. Get serious with them and explain that you would rather dancing over lacrosse. If possible, try out dancing for a few weeks while still doing lacrosse. They will watch you dancing and see how happy you are! A lot of people don't classify dancing as a sport but it keeps you healthy just as much as other sports. I love dancing! :)
