Question:

How do I convince my parents to let me get my driver's permit/license?

First thing's first, I'm 16 1/2 years old, and I've been begging my parents to let me get my driver's permit for one year now. They say no because I don't need one, basically any excuse they could think of. I KNOW that I'm in need of my driver's license NOW, any not only that, but it's so frustrating seeing that half of the people my age already have their permit/license and I don't.

-I am EXTREMELY mature (my friends parents always come up to me and say that.), even I think of myself as a mature person for my age.

-I need to drive to Band Practices.

-I need to drive to Water Polo Practices.

-I need to drive to school too!

-I get exceptional grades at school. (Maintaining at least a 4.3 G.P.A. or "A" average.)

-I am involved in 3 school clubs.

Not only do I have a busy schedule now, but I'm currently applying for jobs (which it's kind of embarrassing having my mom driving me to job interviews.), and I am to start College/University in less than 2 years.

HELP>!?!?!/!

  1. i love americans.. do u need ur parents permission to get a liscence? if ur tht mature then just do it muppet

  2. I  just got mines...

You are still going to need your parents in the car with you for atleast 3 months or 50 hours of driving time

Tell them what you just said!

  3. Remind them of all the missed opportunities that will come of not being able to transport yourself to places: many jobs want you to have your *own reliable mode of transportation, etc.

Also, tell them that you will accept restrictions on your driving until you have proven to be a safe and responsible driver, such as not having passengers, not driving at night, etc.

  4. Part of being mature is pretending you don't care...well, not really, but most adults learn to act like that, so that they get what they want.

Stop begging for awhile. Don't mention driving at all. BUT, complain constantly about your sore feet (from walking), mention how stupid drunk drivers are, etc...like, keep the vague concept of driving on your parents minds, without outright mentioning it. They'll think you're so mature for not bugging them, and besides, lots of times if you keep asking someone for something, they get even more emphatic that you shouldn't have it. Reverse psychology and all that. When you stop asking, they'll be more likely to give you what you want.

Keep getting good grades and stuff, and eventually your parents will probably let you get your license, because they'll see how hard it is for you to walk everywhere. They won't send you to college if you can't drive; that would be ridiculous. And if they haven't taught you to drive by then, you'll be 18 anyway and won't need their permition anyway.

  5. Tell them that. :)

  6. well honestly you could always just take a bus or taxi or find a ride to driving school and do it yourself.now if your parents don't want you to get one well lets get realistic hmmm well were in a recession gas prices, insurance, lets say you get in a wreck, and does your parents driving you bother you that much.now to comfort you i guess if they don't want you to get a permit or license well honestly sucks to be you jk but  honestly though then just wait til your 18 sucks to be a minor for certain things
