I don't want any special sauces, just good old salt and pepper and I need to cook it on top of the stove.

  1. After you season the steaks, heat up your pan. Melt some butter and mix a little a bit of olive oil into it. Once hot place your seasoned steaks inside the pan... for medium rare depending on the size of the filet,it usually takes 3-5 minutes on each side.

    Enjoy!

  3. on an open flam and not well done.

  4. Put a pan on med-high or high heat and sear both sides of the steak.  Once both sides are seared, leave on lower heat for 2-4 minutes on each side, depending if you want rare or well done.

  5. I use the McCormick steak seasoning grinder and wrap a slice of bacon around the outside secured with a toothpick.

  6. You can either use a little Lawry's marinade (I like Baja Chipolte, or Mesquite or Hickory), or just a little Worchestershire sauce, and some fresh ground pepper.  Sear it quickly on both sides in oil in a frying pan; then lower the heat and cook on both sides until it's done how you like it.  Salt it AFTER its cooked (salt draws the juices out).  Let it set about 10 min before you serve it, or the juices will run out when you cut it .....

  7. the guys above have got it except I always season my meat before I put it in the pan but usually with just the basics, salt pepper and garlic.  As said above just make sure the heat is up high and sear both sides of the steak to hold in the juices and then lower your heat and cook  how you like it.  I do filet mignon wrapped in the bacon and cooked medium rare.   if you cook it right you dont even need steak sauce!
