  1. You can boil them or you can sautee' them with garlicsalt and pepper w/ some chicken stock.

  2. Easy method?

Place sprouts in a microwave-safe dish with enough water to scantly cover the bottom of the dish and microwave on high until sprouts are tender.  Drain water.  Salt & Pepper sprouts.  Drizzle with melted butter.

    OR...my FAVORITE way...

    Roasted sprouts!

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.  Place on baking sheet.  Toss sprouts with olive oil, season with salt & pepper.  Roast in oven until sprouts are tender and slightly browned.

Meanwhile heat a small saucepan over med-low heat and pour in an amount of  balsamic vinegar.  Reduce the vinegar by half in volume.  The vinegar's consistency should be syrupy.

When the sprouts are roasted, drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the sprouts.  Serve!

I never bother trimming or the criss-cross cuts.  I'll maybe slice the sprouts in half to keep all the sprouts generally the same size.  Brussel sprouts are waaaay too small for me to get that fiddlely!

I'm glad I'm not alone in my love of Brussel sprouts!

  3. I normally just steam them over my potatoes. Throw the small ones in whole and cut the larger ones in half.

I normally select my own so they are all the same size, that way they will cook evenly.

    Lightly salt before serving.

  4. Steam them for 20 minutes on high heat.  Then drizzle Balsamic Vinegar over and serve.

  5. peel outer leaf  place a x on botton of sprout  place in pot boiling water add little salt and simmer check occasionaly with sharp knife when can pierce with ease sprout is cooked

  6. Boil them in water  for 20 minutes and then add butter, salt, and pepper.  Let the sprouts boil for another 5 minutes....everyone I know loves them this way....yummy.

  7. I'm not going to knock what these other fine folks have said, but my favorite method is to steam them, either in the microwave or on the stovetop.  I believe this is also the healthiest way to cook sprouts and many other vegetables.

Use a steamer basket, metal for stove top use and plastic for microwave use.  Place a small amount of water, not enough to stand above the bottom of the steamer basket, add a pinch of salt to the water, place the sprouts in the steamer basket and bring the water to a boil, covered.  Let the water boil for 5-7 minutes and turn off the heat.  Leave the sprouts in the steamer basket covered until ready to serve.  In a microwave, basically the same thing, just microwave on high for about 8 minutes.
