Question:

How do I cool an upstairs room with no windows?

Room is on the second floor. has one big window that opens up to the living room. Average temperature is 85-90 degrees Fahrenheit in the room. I leave sliding door and other window, both downstairs in living room, open to let in 75 degree air. Problem is, it doesn't really cool upstairs room. For example, right now it is 68 in the living room, and 87 in upstairs room. Have ceiling fan in upstairs room, but that doesn't change the temperature. Was thinking about buying mini-A/C, but there is no place for the exhaust (it would exhaust hot air in living room cuz window leads there). What is the best way to keep room cool (like exhaustless A/C or something)?

  1. A dehumidifier will take the humidity out of the room, that should drop it a few degrees

  2. a fan blowing out the door so it slowly blows downstairs

  3. Buy a good large sturdy fan and place it directly across from the door blowing out. It will create a good cross ventilation. If this doesn't work, look into those A/C units for the room

  4. I have no idea but I'm sure you can consult an AC salesman 2 help u

    good luck !!!

  5. get one of those commercial fans man they work wonders.

  6. possibly fans?

  7. They make portable air conditioning units now.  Check into those.  Also I would sit a fan downstairs pointing upstairs to help push the cooler air upstairs.

  8. well heat rises, so the room being so hot isn't a surprise...you can get a portable AC unit...that would probably be the best solution

and make sure your ceiling fan switch is down...so its pulling up the cool air and circulating it throughout the room.

  9. If there is a loft above the room with loft insulation you could try pulling back some of the insulation to allow heat to escape into the loft.
