How do I copy one section of a dvd onto a blank dvd-r?

Question

I want to copy one part of a home movie at the end of a dvd onto the beginning of a blank dvd.I tried doing this with dvdclone by deleting the sections i didn't want to record but when i played back the copy I made it just left the first half of the dvd blank(black screen).
