How do I create a ß (German double S) on windows Vista/ Office 2007?

Like what alt + combo do I use? How do I quickly type it?

Two ways I can think of:

1. Type 00DF (that is, zero zero D F) and then press Alt+X

2. Press Ctrl+Shift+& and then type S

I don't know of an Alt key combo for this character.
