How do I create a form that generates a script?

Hi,

I am really a noob at html & web page design. I am trying to create a form w/ drop down menus which (depending upon the selection in each menu) will generate a script that the user can copy and paste into a terminal.

Can anyone please help me understand what steps to take/tools to use to make this?

If you want the changes to happen instantly you'll need to learn AJAX.  Our you could learn PHP and use the POST method so that when the user submits the form it takes the variables and inserts them into the mock script.
