How do I create a printer network?

I have a Canon iP2500 printer connected to my Windows PC running Vista, and I have a Mac laptop.

I want to print from my laptop, using my printer, but wirelessly, is this possible? Both are wirelessly enabled, but the printer isn't, so I have to leave it connected to PC.

Cheers!

  1. Yes, you have to keep it connected to a PC or you can purchase a bluetooth serial device for your printer.

  2. I spend most of my time in xp go my answer will be in general terms. There are parts to getting this done

    1. Get the computers on a network together

    2. Share the printer and connect to it

    Part one:

If you have a wireless router or access point on your network then make sure they are both connected to it. This is the easiest way. Otherwise to have the computers conect to each other directly you can create a peer to peer (aka ad-hoc or computer to computer) network.

    Part two:

On the computer the printer is plugged into go to the printer properties and find the spot to turn on sharing.  Probably this involves checking a box and giving it a name.

On the Laptop you can browse the network to find the printer or you can install a new printer, select netwok printer (not local printer) and then browse to it.

    Hope that helps!
