How do I create a sub group within a user group to send emails?

I have a group of parents on the user group. A specific set of parents want to volunteer. I want to send certain emails only to this volunteer group. Other times, I want to distribute to the entire user group. how do I set up a sub group within the group?

Yahoo groups does not allow sub groups within groups, sorry.

you cant e-mail to a sub group of multiple members. you'd have to do this via your own e-mail for those members.
