I am redoing our kitchen and want to make the cabinets white and worn looking. I believe the look I want is called a whitewash look? I was wondering if anyone knew how to create this look, what materials are needed, and how long it takes. Websites with instructions are greatly appreciated!

  1. First put one coat of paint on, let it dry. Then dilute about 1c. paint with water so it is really thin. use a clean white rag and wash the cabinets. Or paint the cabinets first and then sand paper ( fine) the cabinets    and then white wash . Or you can just sand paper them first.and then white wash. I have done all three and it works real well. You use semi gloss first and then white wash with flat.

  2. they make kits.  I did it to my kitchen table.  first you need to primer using an oil based primer or all purpose kilz or something...and then ivory colored paint (oil based is best), you will use what looks like a sand paper sponge very fine grit (like 220) and then brush on a stain glaze and wipe off immediately....

It is made by Rust-oleum.  you can add as little or as much distress as you want!  and the table was easy.
