Question:

How do I criminal history report?

So my husband has had a bad past but has been good for about 7 years now. He's trying to get his contractors license and to apply you have to give them your criminal history. Its kind of complicated because he's been arrested many times, all in different states and city's. He wants to hire someone to get it all but that will cost like $200. So I figure I will get it done. If anyone has any suggestions I would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  1. Hiring someone is probably your best bet.  By the time that you contact the individual states and cities and they get around to getting back to you it will take a long, long time.  There are services on the web that can do it for you - research them before you give them any money though.  Many of them claim to only charge < $20 - but read the fine print.

    Good luck.

  2. The employer really has no business asking about arrests - only convictions.  You can get arrested and your case could either be downgraded or just dismissed - in either case, the fact and nature of the arrest would not accurately reflect on your husband's character.  Also there is the sacred presumption of innocence until proven guilty by either conviction after trial or entrance of a guilty plea.
