How do I cut and sew a tank top so it fits better? It doesn't seem to have seams on the sides.?

All I can find are websites showing how to turn tshirts into tank tops.

  1. Tank top seams are located on the straps.


  2. Fold the shirt in half and press in the center front and center back lines with an iron (or draw them in with tailor's chalk, or baste them in with thread).

    Put the top on inside out and check that the center front (CF) and center back (CB) are straight on your body.

    Pin out the excess fabric at the sides, forming side seams,  If the CF and CB move out of position on your body, that's a clue that you're getting lopsided in your pinning.  A buddy to

    pin out the extra fabric is quite useful here. <g>

    When you've got the seamlines pinned in, sew and trim.
