Hey

I've been playing around with distortion lately but anytime I slide or bend into other strings I get really ugly sounds

I was looking at compressors but supposedly their useless with distortion

if this is true how would I go about getting a much cleaner distorted sound?

  1. either lower your gain or buy like a cut off pedal as i call it that cuts of long notes so u dont get extra noise you dont want like on Back in Black AC/DC

  2. That's what distortion is, right? Unwanted noises?

  3. Compressors aren't necessarily useless in regards to distortion, but you have to know how to use it and what its limitations are. Too much compression means that the distance between the loudest signals and the noise floor gets lower. Too low, and your whole signal is compressed, but noisy.

I can't really tell what your problem is.... I guess my only suggestion is to start by lowering your gain and playing more carefully. You can try lowering the bass side of your guitar's pickups a little bit, that can help with clarity. It can take away some chunk, but don't go crazy with that gain afterwards... listen first. Too much bass = bad.

That's all I can say with what you've written.
