This year, from the flies point of view, they are having a great season; they are being very successful.

It's not just us, the whole town seems to be having a problem and it is getting worse. I would say we have about 20 or 30 times the usual number compared to previous years!

We don't like sprays and other solutions, such as fly paper are temporarily not available due to the high demand!

I know this is not life threatenning or anything, but they really are becoming a nuisance. Any sugestions much appreciated!

  1. a good old fashioned fly swatter. buying a cat wouldn't hurt either.

  2. if ur in the uk then u can buy fly papers they only cost like about a pound for a pack of about 5. u can get them in woolworths i think.

they work pretty good they is made of sticky paper that hangs from the ceeling - the flies fly into them n get stuck n die.

  3. The first thing that you should do is close all the indows and possible entries. It would be good if you have a screen on your windows to let the air in but keep flies out.

Then hunt those flies one by one!

  4. I've heard you can put dish soap with a little water in a bowl. The flies are attracted to the dish soap and drown. Then you would have a bowl-full of dead flies.

  5. Plant some mint, and grow it near back and front doors, and put pots under all windows (or window ledge) if that fails, swatters.

  6. You can make home made fly paper by mixing ½ cup of sweet maple syrup, two tablespoons of brown sugar, and two tablespoons of white sugar in a pan then place a paper bag which has been cut into one inch strips into the mixture and leave for at least 8 hours.

Then poke a hole through each strip and thread a piece of string through and hang in every room.

Citronella oil is an effective repellent for flies. You can buy candles and tiki torches which are made from citronella oil.

  7. you need more species of animals that eat them.

    Frogs,, spiders, bats, and birds.

Of course, then you'll have problems with frogs spiders  bats and birds running amok.

  8. Someone told me that if you put oranges and lemons out with cloves stuck in them the flies would stay away. They don't like citrus. Also heard if you spray around your door and porch with Listerine they will stay away.

  9. This might sound really crazy, but it should work and I know this is a way the flies in the house are solved in Alabama. First you need to swat the ones inside your house. Take a zip-lock storage bag fill it with water and nail it up by your entrances. When flies see their reflection through the bag of water it scares them and they fly away from the door. I've even seen these water bags hanging at Walmart entrances. My friend had them hanging from her entrances and she had no flies in her house. Just to let you know ; flies are bad down there, If you have a cookout flies will infest it faster than you can blink. Good luck to ya

  10. Snapping a dish towel with one corner wetted is good sport, you can take them right out of the air with a bit of practice. It's much easier than trying to catch them with chopsticks.

  11. hang moth balls from a string outside the doors. The flies think the moth balls are a predator and stay away. It works.

  12. I agree with Shuggoth!

That's what my bf was doing yest lol

We have loads too this year! Dunno where they're all coming from!
