How do I deal with my cousin who uses up a lot of my data allowance?

I have this cousin who is 17 and we are with Optus Broadband. I have to wake up really early so I can use the Off Peak Data(12am to 12pm) which is 14Gigs. But my cousin wakes up at 1pm and just downloads HEAPS of stuff ON PEAK(7GIGS), so she uses a lot. If all of the ON PEAK data is used up the internet SLOWS down HEAPS and the Off Peak data is not there anymore and I have to wait until next month for it to all return to normal. I am annoyed. She is connected directly to the modem but I am connected to a wireless router which is connected to the modem. How can deal with her!?

  1. Can you use the administrative account on the computer to restrict her user profile from being able to download stuff?  You'll need to create separate profiles and just don't give her administrative rights if she cannot be more conservative with the downloading.  HA!

  2. Get Net Limiter 2. It's really useful and I use it to keep my sister under control. (yeah). But you need to register and get a key after the evaluation period.

And then I use SysTrayX to hide the icons and other traces of Netlimiter.

  3. Are you on a fusion package, if so, no worries, you can get 20gig for $99 and no home phone charges, or locals charges or std or national calls, sounds like the way to go, that way you can use it anytime of day or night, same with phone calls, try that plan if that doesnt work, make her get her own modem or wifi with them and use her own computer and shes responsible for the bill, I find it hard to believe that she could go through so much in one night, I'm on the $79 fusion plan with 2gig and am online about 60% of the time and never go over, so, theirs something severly wrong, otherwise I suppose you could go to telstra for unlimited downloads for $99, but thats only for the net, not your phone calls and everything, make sure you are not talking about kbs or mbs, a company wouldnt even go through that, they dont worry about on or off peak, speak to an optus provider and see what deal you can get, hope this helps you, goodluck! :)

  4. Break the internet box, use ethernet.

  5. Bonk her.
