I don't want to be rude, but if I pay attention to her... she would be talking all day long.

How do I deal with it. Everytime I'm home, she never stops saying things, and many times she repeats stuff. =S

  1. HI,

Well I see what you're saying.  My daughter says I do the same thing. I guess sometimes I do kind of talk her ear off but think of it this way.  One day it will be silent.  You wont hear that voice at all....and no matter what you do to try and hear it...it will be gone forever.  You will wish nothing more then to hear her chatting away.  I uses to think the same thing about my Grandfather...and guess what...I'd give my eye teeth to hear him tell me another "story" about when he was a boy growing up or anything for that matter.  Just be patient for the time will come sooner then you think when you will be out on your own and then you'll probably be speaking mostly by phone.  Just hang in there this will pass too...for some reason she's feeling like she has tons to talk to you about or tell you.  I'm kind of doing that with my kids now.

When I saw your question it kind of hit home....my kids have mentioned this to me and I'm trying to not talk their ears off....lol

Good luck sweetie it's a tough situation.  I know ya don't wanna hurt your mothers feelings.  Just come out and tell her how your feeling...that's what my daughter did.  At first it hurt my feelings. Then after I thought about it....I think she was right....but I'm still talking...lol

    Maybe just a little less.

  2. Just say... yes, oh, really, you don't say at moments when she takes a breath, tune her out to an extent, but not so much that she catches on. You can tell her nicely that you are reading or need to concentrate and she'll understand,  Sometimes women talk to just fill the air. Moms love their boys and trust me she will be your best friend and life saver later in life.  She will take your side when you think no one else will.  Also, this is great preparation for your future wife.  Women love to talk and love to be listened to.  A man that can listen to his wife and make her feel heard is a true treasure.

  3. My mom is sort of that way. I don't know what to do either. I'm not used to dealing with talkative people because I'm not that talkative myself. Sorry i can't be of any help. But I'm right there with ya, no clue what to do. I try to stay quiet, but that doesn't really work either. I end up saying something and always get in trouble for being rude.
