How do I deal with my in-laws?

I've been w/ my boyfriend for almost 3 years. To make long story short we are in a birracial relationship, his side speaks totally different language than my side. But in terms of both of us, we are so close, and both are very modern in our thinking. We've mostly been in a long-distance rel.

When his brother's family came with him to visit me, that's when all the drama started. His brother's family is really quite a huge one. I was to be the host and I did everything I could to make their stay here the msot comfortable and enjoyable possible. Anyway, some members really got on the wrong foot, esp the girls. I don't know WHY they had a problem with me. Anyway when they left, I couldn't really fix the problem. I know if I see them again, there will be this tension.

I've already talked abt this w/ my boyfriend. My problem is not abt what happened, cos past is past. But what I want to know now is how I can possibly "patch things up." I just want to be normal with them and not have this wierd movie-like drama going on cos that's just not me. Have you ever experienced something like that? How did you fix the awkward relationship w/ your in-laws?

Talk to your boyfriend about the dynamics of the family. It's possible that they thrive on drama - some families do. If you are from a quieter family, that's quite an adjustment to make. If you think there are bad feelings between you and any of them in particular, give them each a call. Say, "I wanted to tell you how I enjoyed having you. I certainly hope that what happened between us didn't cause any bad feelings." Chances are, they won't have a clue what you're talking about.

Relax, hun, just be yourself and it will be fine. And, if they like drama, just learn not to carry it with you afterward.

well u dont have to socialize with his family if u dont feel like it  and im also in a biracial marriage and i get along with my hubbys fam  but i keep converse low and stand clear of all and keep urself from them unless they ask for u ...REMEMBER that u r in love wit him not his family  GOOD LUCK
