Last night my roommates were talking and watching movies until 5:30 am. I came in at 2 and was really tired. However, it is summer and a Saturday night so I didn't say anything because I wasn't sure if I had a right to. Am I supposed to say something? Or am I supposed to just sleep? I mean its not like they were saying anything to me, it was just really loud and I was really tired? It was also a Saturday night, so I don't want to sound like the boring roommate but I have so much to do today and now im kind of tired.

  1. It is okay to ask them to chill a little cause you have things you need to do the next day and you are sooooo tired.  Be nice and tell them you will do the same for them when they need you to.  Or go get some earplugs maybe that will help.  I run a fan in my room.  It cuts down on the noise.

  2. Just ask them politely to keep it down. Bring up your "roomie" issues when you hang out over beer. Its better to be honest than suffer through their noise. Half of the room is yours, so you have the right to voice your concerns.

  3. .you should talk to them ut in a nice way.. telll him what in your mind and heart.. and just explained reasons.. just be frank to them.. theres nothing wrong in that..so that they will know that there sre some people around them that got disturbed..right?.. do it.. its for the good of all..

  4. if it was really loud then you have a perfect right to ask them to show you some respect, don't hesitate on this, sharing a place is very territorial, establish your position immediately, be respectful but firm.

  5. When people share a living space, they need to be considerate of one another. There was nothing wrong with them wanting to stay up late and watch movies, but if it was disturbing your sleep there was no reason for you not to ask them to turn it down. If you had a fan in your room or something that made some 'white noise' that would probably help lessen the disturbance as well.

Everyone has their own life and preferences. It's okay for you to not want to stay up late, so don't worry what others will think. You all should be considerate of one another. I have 2 roommates and once in a while I ask that the TV be turned down if I go to bed earlier than they do. It's just courtesy anyone should extend to others if their actions are might affect someone else....especially if you are all paying to live there.

  6. Well, it's too late now. And you can't be that busy, you're on Y!A...

Next time put on headphones and listen to music to fall asleep.

  7. Having roomates can always be a difficult situation, if you can't handle them properly...the rule is to always be polite.  For your information though, you have the right to say something because it is also your space, and yesterday you were tired.  But your roomates also have the right to be respected; putting these two into place, creates an equilibrium every dorm really needs.  So, be polite to your roomates, while they stay up late and you sleep; ask politely for the television volume to go down a bit so you can sleep.  There are 3 options here: be rude and live miserably for the next year, be polite (and have friends as well as beauty sleep), and ignore the problem while it continues to irritate you for the rest of the year.  If you do nothing, you get nothing; just be nice and live together with your roomates in unity.  Have fun with life and relax in these times.

  8. First off you should set up some rules so you all can get along. Sit down and discuss it and make the do's and don'ts while you are still speaking to one another. You might find out that something may bug them about you too. This will avoid future problems and you can live peacefully.
