  1. Get some games to play in the house, build a fort on the couch with them, read some books, have a play date in the kitchen and bake some cookies or a cake, play hide and seek, play story time and sit in a circle and tell them.  There are a lot of things you can do with them in the house, you just have to be an active part of it.

  2. but the kids video games or get a big tarp and make a slip and slide, there is many of things you can do

  3. Well you got a computer.  While they're sittin there complaining getting dumber by the second, why don't you print them out some homework sheets from the internet so their little brains will be sharp when going back to school in a month.

    Are there rooms clean?

Any other household chores they can help you with?

Challenge them to each make a craft project for dad for thanking him for going to work today.

Buy some cheap squirt guns ($1 a piece, maybe $2) and send em outside regardless of the heat.

  4. You should have fun with your kids... you could cop out and turn on the tv and only have the 1 year old to entertain.. or you guys could get a whole bunch of pillows and blankets and make a fort.. or you could play hide and go seek.. or red rover.. tag .. you guys could play house.. like the 9 year old is the mom and the 0 year old is dad and everyone else is kids (u could be a kid or a grandparent or somthing) ... you could bring out paint and have fun with them ... you guys coould try face painting each other and the kids will have a blast ... you could make them there favorite food... and just show them how much yu love them

  5. Air conditioning and television?

If you've got a couple of dollars though, you might invest in some popsicles; that way they can spend some time outside without frying.

Also, maybe try to get them interested in reading, if they aren't already, and get library books. Free as long as you don't run up overdue fines. Which are small anyway.

Another cost-efficient activity is swimming, either at a lake, ocean or pool. Community centers usually have swimming pools, and I don't think they charge. If they do the rate shouldn't be too high.

  6. Play indoor games. Play cards coloring, let them cut up magazines to make collages. Play simon says. Read to them. Start a story and let each child add to it until it gets finished.

  7. do you have any board games or feel like creating your own?

  8. this family i babysit has a budget too. but pearler beads are cheeper than most games. what they are are these little bead like things with holes in them and you set them on these pegs. once the kid gets the picture he or she wants you put this pece of wax paper that comes with it on top and you iron it. its soo cool! and it keeps them occupied for hours. i dont think the 1 year old could do it but hey the kid is one you clap and the kid is fascinated. other things that require no money is paper dolls that you color their clothes, you no the printoffs from the internet. also take them to the library ITS FREE! let the kids have a friend stay over for a day. have them make kool snacks that are from regular house hold items like that one snack that is called flies on a toilet or ants on a stick, the flies on a toiled are bagels with peanut butter and raisins you could even toast the bagel first for a great breakfast the ants on a stick is a big stick pretzel with peanut butter and raisins for a great afternoon snack. if it is too hot to play outside get a slip and slid and a babypool. hope i helped

  9. Boxes (ask the grocery store for used/empty ones), blankets, stick-like things (brooms, toy swords), sheets, paper, crayons - instant forts!

  10. housework lol funnn! I like the first answer!

  11. Set up a scavenger hunt in your house!  Hide things like kitchn utensils or stuffed animals.  Have them make a list and draw what they found.

Make a reading circle.  Take turns reading books with the older ones and the younger ones can listen.

  12. Housework! lol

  13. Do craft projects, bake cookies or other treats, put the sprinkler on and let them play, make tents out of sheets over the furniture and give them lunch in there. give them old clothes and shoes for playing dress up, pay the older kids a little bit to "baby sit" the little ones (with your supervision of course), let them play in the tub!

  14. Have them play educational games, I have the same issue with my six year old.

  15. Well you could tell ur kids to put their bathing suits on and get the hose out and squirt them with it! its always fun for all ages. or you could get a sprinkler out and tell them to run through the sprinkler.. or u could stay inside and watch movies, or even watch tv, or tell ur 10 and 9 year olds to clean somthing. be creative

  16. Arts/crafts! Crayons/colored pencils and scrap paper are not too expensive --that was what my brothers and I did when we were little.

  17. Simply set up a family activity to do inside..Get the family together and play a board game or bake cookies or paint. You could also let them go over to a friend's house for company.

  18. the scavenger hunt thing in the house is good

i also like the idea of printing them out worksheets to do

board games and card games are good

they could just play video games like my 7 year old cousin does

  19. If you have board games, cards, even paper to play pictionary, use them.

  20. Does the 1 year old get bored?

    Read them a story.

    Easy card games.

Teach them the violin (or something else you know).  My son, and many others started violin at 4.  So anything less complicated than that can be attempted.

Show them how to cook.  You need to eat anyway, right?  Even the 4 year old can help.

Teach them counting on your fingers.  You can count from zero to nine on each hand, so with two hands you can count from zero to 99.  The thumb is worth 5, the fingers are each worth one.  After counting, show them how to add and subtract.  Push the envelope - and have them remember a digit in their head and do 3 digits, then 4.  Have them multiply and divide.  Finally, they don't need fingers and can do mental arithmetic.  I've got a link that can get you started.

  21. Take the children to the library, and borrow a variety of books.  The library also has videos that you can borrow.

I have a 10 year old and an 8 year old, and when they say the word "bored", I give them chores to do.  They quickly put this together in their mind, and quit complaining about boredom and would find things to do on their own.

We have a Nintendo, Super Nintendo and a Nintendo Wii.  These are not things that they get to play with on a regular basis, so when I let them use them, they really appreciate them.

Let them play computer games, under your supervision of cousre.  The 10 and 9 year olds can use the computer to look up things that interest them-favorite celebrities or shows, facts about favorite animals...it is also good for them to learn and practice computer skills.

Are there any board games they can play?  It might be more fun if you play with them!

My children love it when we sit down with them and look through the family photos or watch home movies.

    I hope this helps some!

  22. When my kids start the "I'm bored" talk I offer to give them something to do (I put them to work) - it's amazing how fast they find a way to amuse themselves.

  23. I love making up games. And regular old games are good too. A treasure hunt, duck duck goose!, heads up 7 up, ask each of them to help with lunch prep or dinner prep. or even science things like what floats in water, how colors mix to make other colors.

    Be creative!!!

  24. Arts and craft, cooking, games.

  25. can you let them run through the sprinkler? and get a fan for you to sit outside with your baby

find some stuff around the house to make a craft

    bake cookies or a sweet

let the kids help you make dinner

    play board games

film a movie and let your older two be the directors and show it to dad when he gets home or just do a play

play dance freeze (i used to love that when i was little and its fun for everyone, if the older ones think its stupid let them be the d.j. and start and stop the c.d.)

you could do a scavenger hunt around the house

    make an indoor obstacle course

you can play school and let the older two take turns being teachers i also used to love that

you could make a collage and let them pick pictures out of magazines

you can play a game kind of like capture the flag and split up into two teams and each team has to hide something in different rooms then the first team to find the hidden object wins

you can make puppets and put on a puppet show

    musical chairs is fun

building a fort might be fun

ill try and think of some more ideas and come back good luck (:

  26. put them in a cold bath with bubbles and put all their toys in and a couple of brushes and get them to scrub them all clean.
