  1. first of all decide if you want a fast computer or a slow one. then if you want a fast one go for xp and if you want a slow one go with vista. if you want to play top notch games like crysis and mass effect you need vista. if your gonna be doing anything else other than gaming choose good old reliable xp. vista was  very surely one of the worst computer decisions i ever made i only keep it to play games... if you want the beauty of vista make sure to have atleast 3-4 gigabytes of ram and a quad core intel processor and a good video card then you will experience the beauty of vista!! if you dont care about beauty and would rather save your money and keep all your programs without having to search for hours and buy all new programs for stupid vista... then get XP.. sorry if it got confusing lol

  2. Well check out what people have to say.

  3. As an owner of Windows XP pro, media center, and home as well has Vista Home, and Ultimate.  If you are comfortable with XP, I would stay with that.  Microsoft is trying to push for vista, but it is soo different from xp its crazy, all the 07 software has changed a great deal and you will just run into complications.  However, if you havent had much computer expierence, I would go with vista, its up and coming and soon will be a good choice, plus the 07 softwares are slick and cool, just taking me a long time to learn how to use.  But be careful, Windows Vista takes a good processor and atleast 2gb of ram!

  4. blackvioletred,

Hi, my name’s Cody, and I’m working with the Windows Vista Outreach Team.  I’m around to help answer any questions folks might have about Vista.

I noticed you are trying to decide between XP Pro and Vista Home Premium.  There are definitely quite a few differences between the two, and it is certainly a tough decision to make.  You’ll need to see what will work best for you, but to simplify things, I’m including a link to a .pdf that Microsoft recently released: http://download.microsoft.com/download/3... This document does a great job detailing the new and different features contained in Windows Vista in comparison with XP.

Hopefully, this helps you with your decision, and gives you the information you need to make a good choice that fits your needs!  Feel free and drop me a line if you have any more questions!

    Thanks,

    Cody

  5. In all reality, I like XP better, but Vista has a longer support cycle. It is a little tricky at first to find your way around, but with the new updates, it is getting more like XP.

I bought a new laptop with Vista, but my desktop has XP.

Most programs have been updated for vista.

  6. XP. It's all you need!

Heres some websites that might help!

  7. windows vista is the same as windows xp, except it has more "eyecandy", which comes at a nasty cost, cpu cycles and more memory usage. i highly suggest you stick to windows xp for better performance.

  8. P GOTi  answer  is correct.

    Vista is  high end in everyway, and you need HIGH resources to run it.  If you don't have the money for all the upgrades;

then stick with Reliable WinXP with Sp 2.

  9. get windows xp. if xp suites your needs, you dont need  to change. also, there are less programs that vista can support so programs wont work as well

  10. windows xp is working good in the market since a long long time, while windows vista is new. so, i would suggest windows XP. xp does not charge high on the ram as vista does. besides fancy looks, you can't expect much from vista home premium (but u can with service pack 2).

if u got 2 same computers, in one of them, u install xp and the other vista, xp will work much faster.

  11. I would go XP pro. I work on computers for a living and I know that business as well as home users are slow to adopt Vista. Too much flash and errors. go with what works

  12. To be honest I would get windows Vista home Premium,

It is a more useable version and is more future proof unlike the older XP

As for the whole "Windows Vista IS somehow worse than XP" thing dont believe everything you hear the initial problems that plagued Vista's launch have been ironed out and in the long run more software will probably be written for vista than XP

  13. well unless this is a new PC you shouldn't buy Vista, If it is a new PC make sure to get Vista home prem 64 bit and have at least 2 GB of RAM. I have both a XP Pro PC and Vista Home Prem and they are both good OSs if you want a Vista that has the same features as Pro you want the Business version but you probably don't need it.

  14. The best for your needs is,

it is good to upgrade from professional to a service pack 2 or 3

Because a lot of softwares nowadays don't run on windows professional coz it's a bit outmoded

    e.g

    office 2007, mcafee 2008,

    Get windows xp service pack
