  1. well the most important thing is you have to have a banquet  you need long trestle tables for your guests to sit at:

    _ bridal table

    ||| guest tables

food should go in the middle of the tables

roasts, vegetables, and tarts and pies for dessert

    mead, spiced/mulled wine

    tapestries

    candles

live band - there are people who specialise in medieval music

just look up medieval banquets on google

  2. A coworker of mines had this type of wedding. Yes she had a bagpiper and her bridesmaids were dressed as serving wenches. Everyone was dressed like the crew at medieval times. It was kinda neat.

  3. look here:

  4. If you google "Celtic Weddings" you will get TONS of information:

    http://www.dfwx.com/medieval.html

Also, it is good to pick a country. Ours is more "Irish" in nature, so google and look up Irish Weddings (or Scottish, or Welsh) or just google "medieval wedding."

Here's a good book to try:

Another website with lots of good links:

Try Renaissance Magazine for lots of great stuff, and check out their links page (They also have a bride issue you can order):

And try music by Loreena McKennet (you can You Tube some of her songs) or Aine Minogue:

http://www.minogue.com/ (We are using either her Celtic Pilgrimage or "The Vow" when people are entering and sitting).

Also consider having your wedding in the round instead of the traditional "walk down the aisle."

    And, of course, outside.

There are lots of sites that specialize in wedding dresses for this type of wedding:

I heard of a couple who did a whole thing outdoors with games and all kinds of stuff - and they served legs of lamb and ale for dinner.

Customs differ in some regions, but handfasting was pretty common. Also, there was often a "mock" abduction, and I've heard great stories of re-enactments that took place just before the "ceremony" began. My favorite was where the groomsmen picked up the chair the bride was on, and started carrying her away, and the groom called the bridesmaids ("To Me!") and they ran off after the groomsmen, then had a huge fake sword fight (everyone was carrying wooden or fake swords). When the groom and the bridesmaids "won" the bride back, she was free to marry the groom.

    Have fun!!

    :)

  5. potted shamrocks would be a great and inexpensive centerpiece are you going to have a handfasting ceremony it is a must for an authentic medieval Celtic ceremony this is a great place to order your cords http://gaiashandfasting.com/

  6. you should have fake knights with eyes in them

  7. The ladies at http://www.midnightgarden.com/wedding/bo... are very helpful since they are all doing medieval weddings.

  8. Well of course, a celtic cross would be a nice addition to the tables. The table covers can be simple (plain white would do), but what is really important is what is on the table, that's what matters the most. I saw a celtic-cross soap favors and they were really cute. You could put four to a table (or however many people you're having at each table, have one for everyone). I'd say the perfect flowers would be daisies. I would also check out these pictures of medieval and celtic stencils, http://www.stencilplanet.com/index.asp?P... because they can give you an idea of how you'd like to decorate the table covers or invitations, etc.
