How do I delete EVERYTHING I did on the internet for free and for good?

Question

I know that our computer record everything we do, see, and download even though we "deleted" it. I want to delete EVERTHING I ever did, see, and downloaded off the internet FOR GOOD, as in no person, program, hardware, software can access it ever, even things in those hidden and encripted files deep in the hard disks/drives.

Also, I'm really short on money right now with the economy going down and all so I need something free and really effective.

The reason for this is that my brother just gave my family this old but still good computer but I know he is kind of a pervert too. I'm worried that my children might accidently access some kind of files he got on the computer, also....the ironic thing is, is that my son is really into computers and he might go snooping around in it and try to "understand" all the things on it too.

The OP is Windows XP and my brother lost the disk that downloaded the OP on the computer. Also, I REALLY don't want to format the hard disks/drives.

you are aware that your 'son' if he is good at computer stuff can access his own websites and download the same things you are concerned about him finding right ?? are the police after you for something ?? your wife ?? whats your story ???

I'm normally pretty good at finding freeware but after a lot of searching I can't find anything to do what you want.

I wasn't convinced that I would as to the best of my knowledge only a full hard drive format would do it. Sorry.

If you used Internet Explorer

Tools>Internet Options>Click Delete and select Delete Everything.

If you used firefox

Tools>Clear Private Data>Clear

Ccleaner

removes internet files, temporary files, cleans regiestry, removes programs, sorts out start-up, turns lead into gold etc.

Ccleaner is great to delete all kinds of c**p but if you want to completely wipe so it can never be found you'll have to reformat and use Darik's Boot and Nuke 1.0.7 from http://www.dban.org/download , this wipes everything then re-writes over all your binary code (101010) by using whichever algorithm you want, the better ones take longer of course, but this will wipe everything, then you'll have to re-load your operating system

goto internet explorer delete the web history, cookies, etc then goto my computer and right click on your hard drive and select properties and select "cleanup disk" then goto my documents and press ctrl+H it will show all the websites or files u have used delete them and u r done for good and free

This is near impossible, although writing over the hard drive with complete data several times would eventually erase all your older data. For ease and simplicity though, I suggest a hammer. :)

This free program will delete everything on your hard drive. You should save any important programs, that you want to keep, as they will also be deleted. Good Luck→
