How do I delete a contact from blackberry messenger?

I tried using the menu button and the delete contact option then then picked delete over cancel and contact is still there! Its the old name (and pin) my friend used before she got a new blackberry. She has a new pin now. The icon on my contact list is the standard smiley face but it has waves coming out of its mouth- like its yelling or taking. It is very strange. Thanks!

You might try a hard reset: remove the battery from the device (while it is still powered on) for 10 seconds, then reinsert. Check BlackBerry Messenger again and see if the old contact has been removed.
