I hate chat. How do I delete it off of filecroc and bearshare?

As taken from your other question,

Sadly some people in the community decide to spoil it for others by sending these kind of chat messages.

My best advice is for you to sign into your BearShare account and select

Tools --> Preferences

Select 'Instant Messaging' on the left

Set the option in the right pane to 'Only users on "My Friends" list'

Click 'Apply'

Doing this will mean people will have to add you as a friend before being able to chat with you (giving you a chance to 'vet' them I suppose). My personal experience is just to avoid the Turkish, Italians and Egyptian males.

To further enhance your privacy, and your parents may wish for you to do this, is to sign into your account and select

Tools--> My Account Settings

Remove the tick from against 'Allow others to view my profile'

Now I believe no-one will be able to talk to you or see your profile, and if they do somehow manage adding you as a friend, simply decline them.

As a final side note, the 'Report abuse' feature works a treat and I highly encourage its use. You may not get a response, but users can have their account modified, ability to send IM's revoked or even their account disabled.
