For example, if I want to type in a word beginning with M, any words that I've typed beginning with M come up. Thanks.

  1. Just keep typing. Sometimes that list might even be useful, although I usually use bookmarks if I visit the same site more than once.

  2. what you trying to hide? :P

  3. That is part of the autofill feature that can be turned off in options.

In IE go to internet options/ content/ autocomplete/ settings/ forms.

In Firefox go to options/ privacy/ history/ remember what I enter in forms and the search bar.

You can also delete the entries by double clicking on an empty box, drop down to the first item, and then press delete for each entry.
