How do I delete the original creator of a yahoo group?

A guy created my group. He started out as the moderator. Then I joined the group. Then the original moderator made me the new moderator. Now the original moderator wants to leave the group. When I go to the member management page, all the other members can be deleted by checking the box. But not the original moderator, who has an N/A in place of his check box. How do I delete the original creator/moderator from the group?

  1. You cannot delete the group owner. He will have to make himself a Member, then he will have to remove himself from the group.

NOTE:  You need to make sure you have Owner status by going to Management, then clicking on Moderators' tab. If your "crown" is blue, you are owner, if it's gold, you are moderator. If your status is moderator, you need to make sure he either makes you an Owner or assigns ALL privileges to you as a Moderator BEFORE he makes himself a Member and leaves the group so you can fully manage the group.

  2. I ran in to this one time with a group I now co-own.  I found out that it was because that other person was the owner and I wasn't.  The person that was the original owner of the group must change his membership status back to "Member" and then he can be unsubscribed from the list.

  3. you cant. the owner has the N/A, they need to remove themselves.

  4. You cannot delete the owner of the group. S/he has to leave the group and give somebody else the ownership of the group.
