This is to answer the question of some colleges. My mom's dad was caucassian French, her mom was a black caribbean. So my mother is what we caribbean call mulatta/mestizzo. My dad was mix with something that I don't know of since I did not know him too much. I am black caribbean. How do I describe my background? When they ask , what ethnic group do you belong, I don't know if I should write Afro Caribbean/Black, mixed or Latino because I heard that people from Haiti are suppose to be "Latino" which I find pretty ambiguious so can you American or caribbean explain me the whole thing because I have never been in a situation where I had to explain who I was in that way.

  1. usually there is a place to mark other or just pick the one you most identify with. there are so many different mixes that its really hard to put people in a neat little box like they did years ago.
