Question:

How do I disable the "ignition kill" on my aftermarket car alarm system?

The alarm is some sort of Python 1400 or other. I'll start my car multiple times in a day, and then sometimes, the alarm will just decide to kill the ignition. I can still hear the fuel pump go, and the relay clicking and the lights dim.

I've timed it (because it's happened so many #$%^%^&*@! times), and I have to wait exactly 15 min before it will work again. If I try to start it before the time has elapsed, it will reset the timer.

How can I disable this God-forsaken feature or just plain disable the crappy alarm system altogether?

  1. Normally you would have to take out the complete ignition kill system. But that  can be a big job. So you know, you can't just cut the wires because it's hooked up as a "brain" now for the car. If you cut the wires you won't be able to start it at all. Take it to whoever installed it and have them look at it. Oh yeah, sometimes there is a valley switch mounted in the car to bypass it. Flip the switch and you should have no problem.

  2. The starter wire has been cut and wired into the brain of the alarm.  Locate the starter wire and reconnect it... should have no problem.
