How do I disconnect a client on my wireless router?

want to connect my DS to the router but it only has 5 connections at a time? How do I disconnect One?

  1. Usually, you go into the router and say you want to release this client's ip address.  It usually does not tell you exactly what computer it is, so you will most likely have to find the ip address of the computer.  To find the ip address, go to Start, Run only in XP, type: cmd, press enter.  Now in the command prompt, type in: "ipconfig".  This will tell you what the ip address is.  Go back into the router and release that client's ip address.  It is up to you to find what tab to go into to find this though.

    If you want to perminantly kick that person off, go into your wireless tab and setup mac filtering.  This time instead of typing in ipconfig to get the ip address, type ipconfig /all to get the MAC address.  You do this on the computer of course, and then once you have the MAC address, enter this into the MAC filtering table.

    Some routers will also let you set a what time that computer will be allowed to use the network.  You can kick that person off between 10pm and 6 am.
