10 ANSWERS

  1. Shred It or tear it up Real Good.

  2. Shread and burn

  3. In order to obtain the current passport, she should have been required to turn in her old one to the Canadian government (either through the embassy or consulate, or directly to Ottawa) BEFORE being issued the new one.

    If she was allowed to keep it, there are two ways that they usually identify it as an invalid one:

    - - The first is to punch one or more holes (using a standard hole punch) along the edge of every page that is opposite the binding. This typically invalidates the data for scanning purposes.

    - - The second method is to chop off the top right corner of every page (top right refers to the corner on the front cover) - typically the amount removed would be the equivalent of a baby-finger's worth.

  4. A lot of people actually keep their expired passports as mementos of their travels. If your wife would like to do this, just chop off the top right-hand corner of the entire passport - this will ensure it's beyond redemption if anyone ever tried to pass it of as their own.

  5. an expired passport has no use, if you would like to keep it for memories of trips, you can can do it; you may want to just destroy it, it is safer,

    by the way, i keep all of mine;

    if you really want to destroy it? shred it ........

  6. Shreading or burning come to mind, the same protocols used by governments to protect classified documents.

  7. It doesn't need to be destroyed.  You can keep it for records, memories, etc.  If it's expired no one can use it as a valid ID.

  8. Just shred them throw away. But make sure all important information is gone. Beware of scam artist, and identity theft. Some one can get your information and create another fake passport to enter legally in Canada. I like to keep them in locker and keep as a memento for my kids.

  9. You could shred or burn it or keep it as a souvenir for the places you've traveled. Or the Canadian Govt may have a system where you send it to them and they drill VOID through it (like what the US does with full passports) and send it back to you. Personally I would keep it for memories sake.

  10. Put it in a scrap book for the memories. Make sure that no one steal it and use it for identity theft, though. If you aren't sentimental you could just shread it and throw it away.
