  1. Do lots of back stretches for flexibility, especially the Cobra position (google it if you don't know what it is). Shoulder flexibility is also important. Here's some links to good examples of stretches:

    1.) http://physicaltherapy.about.com/od/flex...

    2.) http://walking.about.com/od/stretching/a...

I learned mine simply by getting out there and doing it...over and over again until I perfected it. It's not going to happen overnight, but if you skate everyday for those 4 weeks and you incoorporate the stretches you should be fine.

  2. unles you are really flexable it will be hard to get in 4 weeks. Parctice them with a strech band first off ice, then in your sneakers, then on ice gliding, then in a spin.

  3. I doubt a Biellman can be done correctly in so little time. It's a figure that requires extreme flexibility (I'm quite an oddball because I learned the figure at age 18 though I can't stretch it even close to 100%).

Practising the figure in your house with your free leg boot on if great exercise because you focus of pulling your leg up without the pressure to center the upright spin and get into perfect position in less than 2 revolutions and still have enough momentum to still spin in Biellman position for a few turns. Even if you do do the spin in that amount of time, don't expect 7 revs, expect to be only able to do 1 or 2 revolutions if you're lucky. It's a very hard figure and it's really hard to keep the speed going in that position. I've never done more than 3 revs in Biellman position myself and I'm a very good spinner.

Before venturing into the full spin, get your body stretched out doing spirals with the Biellman arm position. It's the same stretching whole on real ice, without the time constraint pressures of doing it as a spin.

Oh, you should know this beforehand: The Biellman is the most painful figure ever (at least in my opinion; maybe some will say an eagle or I-spin will hurt more). That's why you need to be really, really stretched before and AFTER you skate. You will get injured if you're not careful. Never do it on a day your muscles are all stiff from going to a gym or something, it's not worth risking staying off the ice for 2 weeks from a ligament injury. You should also do the figure wearing gloves when you're doing it as a spin in particular.

It's a bit less painful on your fingers when you do it off the ice or simply as a spiral but as a spin you're just yanking your body like crazy just getting into position quickly and the blade cuts through the skin of your fingers. I once did a bit too many of them without a glove and nearly cut a vein in my right ring finger (that would have been a nice and bloody spectacle). In competition skaters usually don't wear gloves cuse the skin won't cut open with just 1 Biellman. It takes several for the cut to really open. You could also wear bandaids.

  4. I got my beillmann spiral when I was in level 2. I spin left naturally, and so they say it to bring up your right leg, with your right arm. I pick up my left leg with my right arm. STRETCH! before anything! and remember to try to find that perfect arm and leg to use it for the beillmann. Bend your back for practicing. careful with the blade too. Good Luck!
