How do I do a blind stitch when sewing?

I am making a pillow and need to close up the last section. I don't understand how a blind stitch is done. Please explain. Is this my best option???

I make small stitches close together on either side of the opening, alternating evenly -- one stitch on the left, just below it one stitch on the right, just below that goes another stitch on the left, etc.  When you finish, pull your thread taut (not tight, just taut) and all your stitches fall into a straight line but are invisible.
