  1. It is called 'en passant'. It is a move involving pawns.

    If your pawn is in the 5th rank (from your view) and your opponent moves one unmoved pawn forward two steps so that his/her pawn is just adjacent to yours, then you can move diagonally one step forward to the file with the opponent's pawn and capture his/her pawn.
