I'm getting really pissed.

I have had photoshop for about 5 months.

I have been practicing EVERYDAY using it.

Every tutuorial I seem to go to doesnt explain it properly to me, and it just tells me where to click and what to do. I dont know half the places on Photoshop. I really wanna make neat looking photos, and i spent enough money buying this software. So I was wondering other than tutorialized and those other websites and other than youtube. IS THERE A GOOD WEBSITE OF TUTORIALS? and also this is what I wanna do. Click the link http://s276.photobucket.com/albums/kk19/meg_RADICAL/?action=view&current=m_93aa93113f9ecca406daa3158b016788.gif How do I do this. GIVE ME STEP BY STEP, WHAT TO CLICK ETC; OR IS THERE A WEBSITE?

Thanks in advance.

If someone helps me, I'll reward 10 points.

  1. Youtube..enter Photoshop CS3 into the search

  2. (1) Calm down. You have to realize that Photoshop is so complex even the absolute experts will tell you no one will ever learn everything it can do, and people are always coming up with new things.

    (2) There is usually more than one way to do something in Photoshop.

    (3) Most tutorials assume you are already reasonably familiar with the tools and the interface.

    (4) Don't depend on software to make good art, it is only a tool. Good art, fun stuff, graphic design, good photography comes from inside you and learning certain skills. If you don't work on that (and just sitting down and doodling ideas is a good way to start!) you will not truly be creating things. For example, good photographers will always tell you to learn how your camera works and practice a lot: work hard to get the best shot in the camera you can, do NOT depend on the software (Photoshop or whatever) to fix it for you.

    (5) As good as some of the tutorials are out there (and I've used some myself), you may want to invest in a couple of books. I would get the Photoshop CS3 Visual Quickstart Guide, and maybe the Adobe Photoshop CS3 Classroom in a Book. Yes I know they are not cheap (but check for used copies through Amazon.com), and they may seem boring, but they will give you a good grounding in the program, get you working well with it, and you can take what you learn from these and go on to do your own thing. Another good one is the Photoshop CS3 One-on-One by Deke McClelland.

Bert Monroy is a Master Photoshop Artist. He is entertaining, extremely knowledgeable and amazing to watch. Pixelperfect is his video podcast, you can subscribe to it.

    (7) The image you linked to is an animated gif. If you know about using layers, you know how to get started with this. You build an image with each part on a separate layer. You can even create basic motion effects by copying a layer, moving the object on the layer slightly, copying it again, moving it some more and so on. What was done in the image you provided was each layer had the same image but slightly altered. Once the layers are set up, you go to Window>Animation and you can convert each layer to a frame. You can set timing for each frame, and move frames around, add tweens and so on. Make sure you are working with a 72 dpi file, which is all  you need to post to the web. If you use a high resolution file, and go to render the animation, you may run out of memory when it tries to save the file (you choose Save for Web and Devices when you save the animation). I learned this the hard way recently when I forgot to take a file that I was adapting from one for print and decrease it's resolution. Photoshop really churned and finally gave me an out of memory message. I suddenly remembered I hadn't changed the resolution, and when I did, it had no problem saving.

I know I didn't give you a step-by-step, but you at least have an idea now of how that works. If you get one or more of the books I suggested, you should find more info on how to do that. You might also want to consider the Photoshop CS3 Bible.

I hope I helped, because Photoshop is really cool, and you can do amazing things with it, but you do need to take your time with it. Hope you don't mind that I got into lecture mode a bit.
