How do I do this without pursuing him?

I want to tell a friend of mine whom I'm in love with that I have feelings for him so that he'll know I'm an option when he wants a relationship. Should I just say he's special to me? I want to do it in a way where Im not pursuing him and to just inform him I'm interested in him. I honestly want him to make the first move. Suggestions?

I think telling him that he's special to you is the way to go.  He'll get the message, and then it's up to him to take it from there.

You could toss it in at the end of a conversation in which he helped you with some issue or other... just smile, and say it, make eye contact for a bit, then walk away....
